Ruusa Kautto

I am Ruusa Kautto, a photographer from Jyväskylä and Lahti. Photography and art have been with me from my childhood, and throughout the years my interest has grown into a passion, which I am eager to explore, challenge, and bring in new directions.  

I am looking for my own voice in which to see, experience, and create images. I am fascinated by experimentality and bending the frames of what is a photograph. 

At the moment I am working with the method of camera obscura, and I am intrigued by its way of bringing together chance and unexpectedness. My aim is to create images that leave room for interpretation and invite the viewer to find their own meanings.  

Alongside my artistic work, I am working as a documentary wedding photographer. I love real and raw moments, small details, and all which cannot be scripted. I am interested in how a photograph allows one to go back to important moments, emotions, and memories.  

I am only at the beginning of my path of work in art, but I do know that I want to take that road with courage and on my own terms. I want to experiment, find, fail, understand, and most importantly create something that carries my way of seeing the world.
